Human Environment Interaction

On day 2 of the cardigan trip I am going to describe the human environment interaction . The theme considers how we modify cardigan mountain, and how cardigan mountain makes us adapt, this may have a negative effect on the environment or a good effect.

When we hiked Cardigan Mountain, we went on a trail that humans made, the trail effects the mountain because many trees were cut down and plants were cut off of the roots. That may have destroyed many animal homes. There were rock walls that stopped water flow that could flood. At the top of Cardigan Mountain there is a fire tower that humans made as well. The fire tower protects the forest from forest fires.

Kids were pulling leaves off of the trees, and they were told not to because of affecting the tree. We also modified the environment to make the AMC lodge, the AMC lodge is a building that runs on solar energy so it’s more economical and environmental because it doesn’t burn fossil fuels.

Even though we modified the mountain, it is still very natural and beautiful, and people love to hike it. We adapted by bringing rain gear, food and water, we needed to wear layers because of the temperature on the top of Cardigan Mountain in order to avoid hyperthermia. We were not aloud to wear cotton because if it got wet we would definitely pay the price by getting sick, because it doesn’t dry as easily as wicking clothes.

We adapted to Mt. Cardigan by being outside all day. Usually kids wouldn’t be outside the entire day because of school or just not wanting to be outside, even if they did sports they most likely won’t be outside the entire day. The hike down Mt. Cardigan was harder because we had to position our feet to slant downward making our ankles tired, and adapting to the environment.

As we got back to the AMC Cardigan lodge we adapted again to be back in a building. Then we adapted to our beds to fall asleep and our day 2 of the cardigan trip was over.
